'Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
'Round yon virgin mother and Child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace'

Hello to you all on Christmas Eve. After a busy day yesterday doing the last little bits associated with this time of year, I now have time to wish you all a Merry Christmas. As I write this post in the early hours I am listening to Silent Night, a carol that sends out the true meaning of Christmas regardless in what language it is sung. I always feel a common link with mankind when I hear it, all conflicts and disharmony dissolve for a moment in time. And it is in that spirit that I wish Peace and Goodwill to all mankind....

It will be towards the Christmas Star than many a child will look tonight in anticipation of seeing Father Christmas. But before he comes however the children will be busily preparing for his visit. Stockings will be hung, milk and cookies left and before going up the wooden hill to Bedfordshire a quiet moment around the tree....

Off to bed is soon called for because as all good children know, if you are not asleep then Father Christmas will not come!!! Excited giggles and whispering accompany the girls and boys to bed with images in their heads of Santa’s sleigh riding over the rooftops. Will Rudolf be leading the other reindeers this Christmas Eve? What special gifts will Santa’s sack hold, waiting to be delivered to them while asleep in their bed......

I remember many a Christmas Eve such as this, both as a child and a mother. Now I can experience it again through my step-granddaughter although she is only 1. My son will read Korenza The Night Before Christmas tonight as I did for him. So for children everywhere I hope you have a magical Christmas......

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads’
